Job Description

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Work Schedule: 12 Months/Year - 8.75 Hours/Day

Summary: The Staff Accountant role is to support the daily operations of the District’s Finance Department. 

*Salary: $55,000- 65,000 pay is dependent on experiance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintaining and updating financial records in an organized manner

  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing basic financial statements

  • Recording journal entries

  • Calculating pay cheques for tax and related bills

  • Completing and submitting tax remittance forms

  • Performing other bookkeeping duties

  • Implementing internal controls

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

Education and Experience: 


  • Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Highly Preferred)

  • Experience with MS Office and Google Suite applications (Required)

  • Experience with Tyler Technologies IVisions system (Highly Preferred)

  • Experience with governmental accounting (Preferred) 

  • Experience with public school district accounting (Highly Preferred)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to present accounting concepts to other professionals

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when managing company records

  • Computer proficiency to work with digitalized financial records

  • Strong numeracy skills

  • Ability to establish and monitor financial reporting systems

  • Critical-thinking and analytical skills

  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and financial statements 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments.
