COMPENSATION $50/hour clinical rate; $15/hour non-clinical rate

Who we want My Possibilities offers counseling services tailored to the unique needs of adolescents, adults, and their families with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. How you can add value Occupational therapists consider the complex relationship between the client, the activity, and the environment in which the activity takes place. Examples of OT interventions include:
- Helping a client with a disability to participate fully in school and social situations
- Assisting a client following an injury or surgery to regain skills they need to function in their environment
- Providing supports to older adults experiencing cognitive or physical changes
Position Summary Occupational therapists contribute to the care of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by focusing on activities and goals that are meaningful to the individuals and their families. Relevant performance areas include cognitive, sensory, perceptual, motor, and psychosocial activities.
Essential Functions - Meets the client's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, determining occupational therapy treatment plans.
- Helps client develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities by:
- implementing programs involving manual arts and crafts
- practice in functional, prevocational, vocational, activities of daily living, sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities
- directing aides, instructors, and assistants
- Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
- Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, and evaluating individual's progress. Then recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications.
- Follows the established Plan of Care for each client by providing skilled, clinical interventions based on SMART OT goals.
- Documents therapy services by charting in client and department records.
- Maintains client confidentiality and protects My Possibilities operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Developing and conducting in-service training programs for My Possibilities staff.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Adheres to CSD clinical expectations and billing timelines for writing and signing notes, writing mid-year progress reports, and conducting annual evaluations.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
This position may require assisting with clients' behavior and working with the program staff to understand the proper techniques/tools to allow for the client to be successful in classroom and community environments.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)- Experience working with adults with special needs a plus
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (sign language a plus)
- Experience and interest in using variety of Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices a plus
Minimum qualifications - Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Excellent people skills
- Ability to be creative/imaginative in finding solutions
- Proven ability to be patient in stressful situations
- Demonstrated adaptability in handling complex situations
Experience - At least 1 year of experience, preferred
Specialized Knowledge - Must have current State of Texas OT License
- Must have current Texas Liability Insurance
- Current CPR and CPI certifications
- Must be able to clear a background check with no related offenses jeopardizing the integrity of our program.
- Current driver's license, acceptable driving record and valid car insurance required.

Supervisory responsibilities Dependent upon level and need.
Working conditions My Possibilities has moved to a campus model. Therapy is typically delivered in offices or in the classroom setting, with some opportunities for community-based therapy as appropriate. Must be able to utilize regular office equipment such as computer, phone, fax machine, scanner, copier, etc. to accomplish job requirements. This position may require handling behavior situations throughout the building and in the community, which may require running, lifting, bending, and crouching.
