Description Reports to: Director of Transportation & Fleet
Department: Transportation
Classification: Non-Exempt
Position Characteristics: Under the direction of the Director, the Bus Driver, a full-time position is responsible for operating transport for EBRCOA senior passengers. Will have safe driving record, follow all state and national driving laws, rules and regulations. Will follow prearranged routes to destination, or use maps and GPS to navigate route. Will also maintain bus upkeep and cleanliness.
Duties and Responsibilities: To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on the Aging, Inc. 'serving the elderly in East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and provision of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible.'
- Practice safe driving habits
- Follow all state and national safety regulations and standards
- Open bus doors and assisting passengers/loading cargo/loading baggage
- Keep interior of bus clean of debris and clutter
- Load and unloading bus
- Complete documentation such as logs, mileage, or cargo and passenger reports
- Follow schedules and rerouting in timely manner when faced with traffic or congestion
- Participate in workshops and seminars for the purpose of increasing performance, safety and efficiency in the transportation department
- Attend periodic driver safety meeting for all bus drivers
- Participate in emergency drills relevant to transportation situations
- Performs other duties as assigned

Valid Drivers License Required About the Organization Since 1973, the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging (EBRCOA) has served the aging population of East Baton Rouge Parish through a spectrum of nutritional and social services. Additionally, the EBRCOA is charged with both meeting and discovering the growing needs of the ever-increasing aging population.
Central to the EBRCOA's mission is service to seniors as well as the maintenance of their personal independence and the enhancement of their storied lives. As such, our mission is simple:
Supporting Independence - Serving Seniors.
Said mission is made real through a variety of community-wide programs such as:
•Meals on Wheels (home-delivered meals to homebound seniors)
•Congregate Meals (hot meals at 15 different sites/senior centers throughout the parish)
•Information and Assistance (trained counselors are available to answer questions, provide a thorough assessment of needs, make appropriate recommendations of services, refer individuals to other EBRCOA-related services in addition to other community-wide agencies/services available to the aging population)
•Personal Care/Homemakers (trained caregivers providing in-home care; house-cleaning; laundry, respite, etc.)
•Family Caregiver Support (assistance for caregivers tending to individuals 60+)
•Health Screens (comprehensive screens at each senior center: glucose, immunizations, nutrition, referrals, etc.)
•Insurance counseling; utility assistance (cable, electricity); Medicaid applications.
Today, our parish proudly welcomes more than 85,000 seniors to East Baton Rouge (eagerly anticipating the opportunity of reaching out and positively affecting each and every seasoned citizen).
