Job Description:

The essential duties for a junior accountant include managing daily financial and accounting tasks for our businesses. Main duties include: integrating invoices for accounts receivable, cash application, sales reconciliation, credit collections, scanning invoices for accounts payable, reviewing invoices for processing, supporting account coding of invoices, tying invoices to supporting documents, preparing general ledger entries, posting general ledger entries, performing general cost accounting for inventory, reconciling other balances and accounts, and supporting the monthly close and preparation of financial statements. This position will also be responsible for communicating, timely and effectively with superiors, any accounting complexities or problems as they arise, and will be a supporting role during audits.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory and keep current with developments and trends 
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person- documentation required
  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting required; BS in Accounting preferred
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives 
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, managements and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, innovation, problem solving and results.
  • Knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs 
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Perform general office and data entry duties
  • Willing and open to learning experiences
  • Adhere to all Quality and Safety standards
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug testing will be required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in the Accounting field is desired

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The employee is regularly required to sit, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Work in office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse, and keyboard - 95% of the work day). The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud at times. Must be able to use required PPE in designated areas. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
